…Aptus Endosystems Inc. said Thursday that it closed a $30 million Series C round of financing.
The Sunnyvale medical device company is developing technology for treatment of aortic aneurysms. The round was led by new investor Indianapolis-based Heron Capital LLC, and included existing investors U.S. Venture Partners of Menlo Park, as well as Prism VentureWorks, Baird Venture Partners and FirstMark Capital LLC.
The company said in a prepared statement that it plans to use the proceeds to help complete its U.S. clinical study and file for a subsequent premarket approval with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In addition, the company plans to prepare for a subsequent U.S. commercial launch of its abdominal aortic repair system. It also plans to initiate targeted commercial sales activity in Europe.
The company’s endovascular aneurysm repair system is a graft, or fabric supported by stents, which provides a conduit for blood flow in the aorta, which is subject to weakening and can rupture…
It was much easier for the company to bring in its Series B round in March 2006 of $19.5 million, which lasted about three years, Katz said.
